CUET UG 2025: A Complete Preparation Strategy
CUET UG is one exam that opens the door to 280+ central, state and private universities — including DU, BHU, JNU, AMU, Jamia and Allahabad. Unlike a single-subject entrance, it tests you across three section families, so your strategy must be section-aware from day one.
Understand the three sections
- Section IA/IB — Languages: 50 questions, attempt 40, 60 minutes. Reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary dominate.
- Section II — Domain Subjects: up to six chosen subjects, ~50 questions each (attempt 40), 60 minutes per subject, mapped to NCERT Class 12.
- Section III — General Test: 60 questions, attempt 50, 60 minutes — quantitative aptitude, reasoning, GK and current affairs.
The marking scheme changes everything
CUET awards +5 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one. With that ratio, blind guessing hurts. Only attempt a question when you can eliminate at least two options. Accuracy beats attempt count.
A realistic 90-day plan
- Days 1–40: Finish NCERT for your domain subjects and build a daily current-affairs habit.
- Days 41–70: Sectional tests — one Language, one Domain, one General Test paper every alternate day.
- Days 71–90: Full-length mocks under the 60-minute-per-section clock, plus error logs.
